DIY Gift Basket Ideas
No matter how hard I try, I can never buy just one gift for someone for Christmas. So I have spent a lot of time developing my world of baskets. All it really comes down to is picking a theme that you know someone will like and personalizing the items you include. For instance, if the person on your list likes chocolate, don't just assemble a basket of different chocolate items, put some melting chocolate in a jar you think they'd like, add a fondue pot and find some personalized fondue forks!

Paleo(ish) Basket
Every once and a while my brother goes on an extreme diet. This year I got him Irish Coffee cups from Jameson and a bottle of whiskey, but last year... what in the world do you get someone who loves to indulge but eats like a hunter-gatherer?! So I spent a lot of time preparing a natural foods basket, and I put everything into cute little jars from the dollar store and attached all ingredients on tags I printed up on cardstock that look like old Apothecary labels. Click each item below for the recipe.
Homemade Jamaican Jerk Spice in a Small Jar

From This Couple to That Couple
My boyfriend and I have some interesting past times to say the least, but to get a little bit more personal with some simple, cheap items for a Christmas gift, this year we gave his brother and girlfriend a 'Couples Fun Basket' including some of our favourite items. I would not follow this recipe exactly since the items are VERY random, but try it out and make it your own! It's easy to do and can be a lot of fun for both you and your significant other, and the couple you give it to.

Brick of Cheese
Michael Bublé Christmas Deluxe Album

Night In Basket

Magazine
Popcorn
Candy
Jar of Peanut Butter or Nutella
Bottle of Wine

Small Blanket
New to Knitting Basket
Assorted Wools - Micheals
Knitting Needles - Micheals
Book on How to Knit (maybe a link to my blog also written in the card somewhere ;))
Mug
Box of Tea (obviously you have to drink tea while you're knitting)
*You can also add some small items for the receiver that follows the theme such as a knitted stuffed animal, or a pair of knit slipper socks!
One of the best things I find that can always up the ante of a gift basket is adding some form of quirky book (most often a cookbook or magazine), as I'm sure you've noticed, that follows the theme OR shows you how to use items within the basket.
